Safeguarding Children at KOMM MIT

THE CODE OF ETHICS AS A GUIDE TO ACTION FOR PREVENTION

For Volunteers

As a volunteer at a KOMM MIT event, I undertake to comply with the following principles of conduct for child protection:

» I take an active stand against sexist, discriminatory, racist, anti-democratic and violent behavior – verbally and non-verbally. I name and do not tolerate degrading behavior. I actively intervene in cases of discriminatory content against social, ethnic or cultural origin, language, appearance, gender, sexual orientation, religion, education and social status of the adolescents. I stand up for diversity, tolerance, equal opportunities and openness

» I respect individual limits and the individual personal feelings of all participants, also in their interaction with each other. Their health and well-being have priority over my personal and sportive goals.

» The well-being and protection of all participants are paramount. I respect everyone’s right to physical integrity and privacy and do not practice any form of violence, whether of physical, psychological or sexual nature.

» I protect the participants from neglect, abuse and sexualized violence, from health impairment and from discrimination of any kind. My work is characterized by respect, appreciation and trust.

» In my role as a volunteer, I have a special position of authority and trust. I assure that I will not exploit this to the disadvantage of the participants. I also respect the dignity and personal rights of everyone.

» I intervene when this Code of Honour is violated in my presence, to seek professional advice (KOMM MIT staff, municipal counselling services, regional football or sports associations).

» ALLtogether: Only through openness, appreciation, acceptance and respect towards different characters, nationalities and personalities will the engagement at the international youth soccer tournament become an unforgettable experience.

» I take on a positive role model function together with all volunteers: We guide the participants in their self-realization to appropriate social behavior towards other people, teach them to adhere to sporting as weil as interpersonal values and rules, and actively position ourselves as role models in the fight against doping, drugs and medication abuse as weil as against any kind of performance manipulation. We ensure compliance with the applicable youth protection law and actively prevent addiction risks (e.g., nicotine, tobacco or alcohol abuse).

» We make sure that all participants deal responsibly with the assigned accommodations, fellow human beings and especially nature and the environment, so that future generations can also enjoy the unique experiences.

» I do not enter the locker rooms, dormitories or similar rooms of the players. However, if a special situation requires this (e.g., medical emergency, damage to property), I first discuss this with the person responsible for the team, knack and then enter together with the person responsible for the team. lf the person responsible for the team is not present, I adhere to at least the 4-eyes principle (at least 2 helpers) and the door remains open.
