Ferran Torres: From KOMM MIT to World Cup hero
Ferran Torres created a moment this year that will go down in football history. With his decisive goal in the World Cup final against Argentina, he led Spain to the world title and became the celebrated hero of an entire nation.
What many people don't know is that long before Torres was in the World Cup spotlight, he was part of one of our international youth football tournaments – the Copa Santa in Spain.

It was about ten years ago that Ferran Torres took part in the Copa Santa with his club at the time, FC Valencia . For many young players, the tournament is a special experience: international opponents, intense emotions, and the first steps on a stage outside of their everyday club life.
In the opening match, Valencia faced AC Milan – a duel that carries a special prestige even at the youth level.

Ferran Torres led his team onto the pitch as captain. Even back then, he showed first-class leadership qualities and took responsibility both on and off the pitch.

For us at KOMM MIT , it is very special to look back on this connection today. Every year, our tournaments bring together thousands of young players from different countries. We are especially proud that among them are talents who later make the leap into professional football.
A world-class career is, of course, not built on a single tournament. Ferran Torres’ path is the result of hard work, talent, support, and many decisions made over many years. But the memory that a current world champion once played as a youth player at the Copa Santa shows just how closely connected the football world is.
Such moments illustrate how valuable international youth tournaments can be for the personal development of young players: new impressions, international opponents, team spirit, and shared experiences. For many, these tournaments remain a defining part of their youth, regardless of where their path leads later on.
